Many astrologers say that we are currently in the Age of Pisces, but this is about to change starting on December 21, 2012 — another curious coincidence to the end of the Long Count Calendar of the Mayans. On average, each zodiac age lasts for about 2,150 years.
The age of a specific era is based on the Zodiac sign that appears in the morning of the spring equinox. The spring equinox occurs after the Winter Solstice, which will happen on the 21st of December 2012. Pisces is said to be replaced by Aquarius.
What Will the Shift of Age Bring?
Astrologers do not necessarily believe that the world will come to an end after the Winter Solstice. However, they do believe that the shift of age will definitely bring forth a drastic change and humans will be affected. Basing on the Zodiac characteristics of Aquarius, this new age will be more about computers, modernization, revolution, humanitarianism, autonomy and democracy — things which have emerged in the last couple of years. The occurrence of such phenomena led astrologers to believe that the new age will be ruled by Aquarius, although no one can be sure until the morning after December 21, 2012.
Furthermore, it is believed that the new age will inspire a massive shift of global consciousness. People will be more aware and concerned about the whereabouts of the world. This is closely related to the Apocalypse described in the Bible which says that the end of the world will happen in a time when everyone around the world will be able to understand and “see” each other.
Many theorists believe that it is not a mere cosmic coincidence that the Age of Aquarius (the cupbearer and keeper of the waters of the Earth) is slated to start in the year of the water dragon and in the exact same day when the Mayan Calendar is also scheduled to end. They are convinced that all these things point out to one singular end: a possible Apocalypse!
Not the End, But a Beginning
However, beyond all these speculations about the end of the world, many scholars still believe that all these coincidences do not predict the coming of Doom’s Day; rather, they mark the beginning of a “New Earth”.
The end of the Mayan Calendar, for example, does not signify the end of the world – those who look at it that way might have missed the fact that the calendar is cyclic. This means that after December 21, 2012, a new cycle will then take place and life will go on as usual.
However, these scholars do not neglect the fact that a possible “change” will definitely take place at the start of this new Age. The changes inspired by the coming of the Age of Aquarius will most likely take place in the renewed planet.
